What is the Contact Form 7 plugin?
Contact Form 7 is a free plugin developed by Rock Lobster that will allow us to create all the forms we want in our project without any limit. Easy to install and manage, Contact Form 7 is the plugin you need if you have to carry out tasks like the ones mentioned above. In addition, it has no cost and its benefits are many.
It is very common if we do custom developments using WordPress as a base, that the client requests forms where relevant information is collected. By default, WordPress does not have functions to create forms, but we can help ourselves, of course, with a plugin for it. On the net there are many plugins to create forms in WordPress, but personally the one I like the most is this Contact Form 7.
Store what was sent by the Contact Form 7 plugin
The first thing you have to do is install and activate the Save Contact Form 7 plugin having Contact Form 7 already installed. To do this, go to the Plugins section of your WordPress backoffice and select the Add New option. On the Add New Plugin page, search for the plugin you want to install using the search field at the top right of the page.
Type the name of the plugin (which as we have indicated is “Save Contact Form 7”) and press ENTER to start the search. If you have followed the steps to the letter, this plugin should appear as one of the first search results. Install and activate it to be able to use it.
Once installed, you just have to go to the new section that has been automatically created when installing this last plugin called Save CF7 through the left side menu available in the backoffice.
When you enter the plugin page in the backoffice you will see a dropdown field to choose which form you want to see the responses from. First of all, tell you that if a form has not received any response, it will not appear in the dropdown. And of course, this plugin is not retroactive, that is, it will start storing information sent by the forms once it has been installed, and not before. That is, it will not show responses from users prior to the activation of the plugin.
Once the form from which we want to see the responses has been selected, these will be shown to us in a list ordered by columns. You can display as many records as you want, export them to CSV and PDF, and even print them. In addition, it has a search engine with which we can find the answers we are looking for.
Finally, if we want to show the date the response was sent, we can do so by entering the Settings section of the plugin in Save CF7 > Settings. There you will see an option that does what I just told you about, so mark the checkbox if you want the date to be shown in the list.
And that would be all, from now on we will be able to consult the information of the forms implemented with Contact Form 7 of our WordPress simply by entering the backoffice.
And here is our article on how to store what is sent by the Contact Form 7 plugin in WordPress. I hope you liked it and, if you found it useful, feel free to share it on social networks.
